The National Association of County and City Health Officials (NACCHO) invites local health departments (LHDs) to submit applications to participate in The Winnable Battles Collaboration Project. Applications are due Monday, March 11, 2013 at 11:59pm Pacific Standard Time.
This project will foster collaboration between LHD maternal, child, and adolescent health and LHD chronic disease prevention staff, and enhance their capacity to carry out projects that support the CDC Winnable Battles related to tobacco and obesity prevention. This Request for Applications process will identify two (2) LHDs currently engaged in evidence-informed or evidence-based efforts to address the Winnable Battles. NACCHO will provide training and technical assistance to the selected LHDs to improve their capacity to conduct cross-cutting efforts, and process and outcome evaluation. The project period is March 15, 2013 - September 20, 2013.
Selected LHDs will receive $5,000 each to:
• Develop an action plan to successfully complete a joint maternal, child, and adolescent health/chronic disease prevention event or activity;
• Increase collaboration among maternal, child, and adolescent health and chronic disease prevention staff;
• Increase their capacity to conduct process and outcome evaluations of their work, thereby improving their ability to build the evidence base for efforts to address the Winnable Battles; and
• Raise the national profile of LHD efforts to address the Winnable Battles.
